For beginners or seasoned growers, our Grow Tent Kits provide everything you need to start growing quickly.

Each PROGROW Grow Tent Kit contains the essential hardware required for hydroponic growing: a grow tent (or room), ventilation and lighting.

Grow Tents

These come in a variety of sizes which you will see in the name of each kit (measurements are in centimetres) so you can easily find and select the one that suits your available space. All our grow tents are made of high-quality materials and have all the features necessary to connect and run your hydroponic system. Our smallest kit is the PG90 at 90 x 90 x 180 and the largest is the PG360 at 360 x 240 x 200. There are two sizes in between – the PG120 at 120 x 120 x 200 and the PG240 at 240 x 240 x 200. If none of these sizes are suitable, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.

Ventilation

In hydroponics, a key element for success is the control of the growing environment. Plants grow through photosynthesis, essentially taking in carbon dioxide and emitting oxygen and heat. If these by-products are left in the growing environment, photosynthesis can no longer take place, restricting or preventing plant growth. Optimising growing conditions means extracting the oxygen and heat, enabling fresh air to enter the environment so that photosynthesis can continue. Our Grow Tent Kits come with an extractor fan that is ideally suited to the size of your selected grow tent, plus a filter to remove unpleasant orders that would otherwise build up.

Lighting

Again, we’ve done the hard work and selected the ideal lighting solution based on the grow tent size. The only choice you will need to make is between the digital and non-digital options for regulating the supply of energy for your lighting. Essentially, the digital option provides flexibility and control, while the non-digital option is older technology that will do the job well, but it’s not flexible or controllable. The digital option is more expensive, so your choice will depend on your budget as well as what you want from your system and how flexible you need it to be. Whichever option you choose, you can be assured that your kit is optimised to ensure your hydroponic growing success. For further guidance or help, please feel free to contact us.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a grow tent?

A grow tents makes a very quick solution for a ‘grow room’ providing reflective surfaces, ports for electrical cables and intake and extractor fans as well as a rigid structure to support lighting and ventilation, creating the correct growing environment. When the alternative option is to build or enclose an area in your home for a grow room its not hard to understand why grow tents have become so popular in recent years. With a myriad of different sizes, you are sure to find a suitable option for your intended grow.

What size grow tent should I choose?

This is largely down to what you want to produce from your grow tent, be sure what you want to grow and whether the area you have is sufficient. Cost will also be a consideration, the larger tent you have the more it is going to cost you to ‘kit out’ correctly. As an example, many growers using a single 600w lamp in a 1m2 grow tent will get away with not using an intake fan, the extractor fan doing a sufficient job of pulling air in passively when the tent is closed and extracting hot stale air. Anything over this size and you would be well advised to also have an intake fan and fan controller. On top of that you will need a light fixture for each extra 1m2.

What size light and extractor fan do I need for my grow tent?

This question has untold amounts of answers per different size tents. Propagation tents speak for themselves somewhat in that they are designed around either 2ft or 4ft fluorescent Lamps and fixtures. Beyond that starting with tents of approx. 1m2 floor area a 600w high pressure sodium provides optimal light levels over this area, simply multiply this up for larger tents. As for led’s most of the newer lights on the market are designed to work over a 1m2 area, maintaining approx. 600 watts per 1m2. Propagation tents tend to require less ventilating than larger tents as the fluorescent lamps use don’t get particularly hot, a fan capable of changing the whole volume of air every 5 mins is acceptable. A 1m2 grow tent with a 600w high pressure sodium will require an extractor fan capable of approx. 400m3 assuming no intake fan.

Which tent manufacturer do I choose?

Progrow only sell quality grow tents so you can be sure you will have a quality item from Progrow. Budbox were one of the first manufacturers of grow tents here in the U.K. and so have a solid pedigree through years of experience producing quality tents, probably the no1 Grow tent manufacturer in the U.K. Secret Jardin as the name suggests are a French company who have also manufactured quality tents for quite some time, constantly innovating and improving their range of grow tents. Pro-Growrooms provide a slightly cheaper option but do not scrimp on materials or quality of manufacturing. All the tents we sell will have ports for intake and extractor fan, electrical cables or water pipes from a header tank. All our tents provide a lightproof sealed environment for your plants. Progrow can also supply to order grow tents from Gorilla, Mammoth and Homebox.

Where should I put my grow tent?

Grow tents are made to be used in an indoor environment, you should not attempt to use a grow tent outside. As environment is so important to your indoor garden ensure wherever you put your tent it is not subject to large temperature variations, such as cold uninsulated roof spaces or a draughty garage. Night time temperatures here in the U.K. are enough to stunt the growth of your plants, even in summer. Consider your ventilation requirements for your tent, is the room your tent is in able to be ventilated to provide intake fans or passive intake enough fresh air for your Grow? Don’t forget the importance of complete darkness for photoperiodic plants, grow tents are lightproof, but the smallest interference during the night time cycle can upset your plants growth regulation. Another consideration of course is electricity and water, you will need at least 1x twin socket if you are running a 600w high pressure sodium lamp for example so plenty of available sockets is important. Practicality when it comes to watering your plants is also another consideration you need to make, don’t position your grow tent too far away from fresh water, another reason lofts and roof spaces are not the best place to site your grow room.

How do I hang my lights and ventilation in my grow tent?

All good quality grow tents are sturdy enough to support the grow gear you will need; many have cross frames at the top to support your gear. For ease we can’t get away from using rope ratchets to support both your lighting and your ventilation system. Rope ratchets can be micro adjusted for your lights and will support equipment up to 86kg per pair.

I’ve seen really cheap Grow Tents on Ebay are they worth buying?

The short answer is a simple ‘No’, inferior materials being the main pitfall, we have talked of the importance of darkness in your tent during lights off. Many cheaper tents are not using lightproof Cordura fabric, these cheaper fabrics degrade rapidly in the harsh environment of your grow room. Poor quality zippers are another bug bear of poor-quality grow tent, you will be using your zipper regularly to check on your plants so it is imperative it is good quality. For the minimal saving you may make we would recommend sticking with a trusted tent manufacturer.
