Temperature - The Environment - Paul Fowler
SECTION 4 - THE ENVIRONMENT
TEMPERATURE
Temperature is vitally important at this stage in the plants life. To start the root cells growing the temperature needs to be around 24C

The temperature should remain as constant as possible over the full 24 hour period to reduce stress to the young plants. Heat is best supplied from underneath, but remember that heat rises, so check the temperature at plant level.

The environmental temperature can easily be measured with either a simple mercury thermometer or a more accurate digital thermometer. In both cases it is best to purchase one with minimum and maximum memory settings so that the temperature limits over the full 24 hours is known.
