NFT stands for 'Nutrient Film Technique'. Plants are grown with a continuous flow of highly oxygenated nutrient solution flowing through the root system providing them with all the elements they need. The only growing medium used is the medium that the plants were started in; it is a 'bare rooted' technique.
Plants sit on a tray or 'channel' above a nutrient tank. Nutrient is pumped onto the tray and flows over the roots. Whatever the plants don't use flows back into the reservoir ready to be passed over the roots again. This constant supply of nutrient water and unlimited oxygen means the grower can expect up to 4x the yields of conventional growing methods

Tips from the experts:
Golden Rule:Ensure that plants are root bound before they go into the system. An abundance of white roots should be visible on the outside of the starter media.
As a rule of thumb; 1 plant per square foot. This can be increased or decreased depending on plant variety.
Pump runs for 24hrs. No need for segmental timers or feeding schedules.
Completely remove the plastic wrapping from rockwool cubes. This allows the roots more access to oxygen.
NFT is a bare rooted technique. All but the smallest of plants will need additional support, i.e. yo-yo's or pea netting.
Cut lengths of spreader matt long enough to allow an overhang a few inches from the channel into the tank. This eliminates the sound of tricking water!
Use CubeCaps on rockwool cubes to prevent algae growth on the cubes surface.
Use Cultilene Deep 3ins Cube's which a high enough to extend up through the correx top sheet.
