Conductivity levels of different plants - An Advanced Nutrient Solution - Paul Fowler
SECTION 2 - AN ADVANCED NUTRIENT SOLUTION
CONDUCTIVITY LEVELS OF DIFFERENT PLANTS

Each type of plant has a preferred level of feeding, or strength of nutrient solution. Broadly, they can put into three categories: low, medium or high feeders, which perform best with the following conductivity levels:

• Low feeders (eg. Lettuce) = C.F. 8 — 12
• Medium feeders (eg. Strawberry) = C.F. 18 — 22
• High feeders (eg. Tomato) = C.F. 20 — 50

If you plan to grow more than one type of plant in the same system, ensure that they all fall into the same category, eg. all medium feeders.

A list of the optimum conductivity levels for some popular hydroponic crops is given on page 25.
